The inspiration behind the Iso Table stems from the need to address the messiness and obstruction that can occur on top of a coffee table. The attached accent table acts as a clever alternative to a decorative table tray, offering more surface area while maintaining a sleek and unobtrusive design. Vang's creative process was influenced by the simplicity and effectiveness of mobile app layouts, which are designed with clear visual cues for optimal user experience. These same design cues can be seen in the contour lines of the Iso Table.

What sets the Iso Table apart is its floating accent table, which creates a physical separation that unconsciously declutters the space. The accent table is adorned in a bright neon green color, serving as a visual indicator for users to stage their decorations. This allows the rest of the coffee table to remain clutter-free, promoting a clean and organized living space.

The Iso Table is crafted using a combination of modern and traditional techniques. The top is constructed from plywood and veneer, cut into shape using a CNC router. The base is made from solid wood and assembled using traditional joinery techniques. This hybrid fabrication approach ensures a high-quality design while keeping production costs reasonable.

With dimensions of 145 mm x 45 mm x 65 mm, the Iso Table is designed to fit seamlessly into any living room or lounge area. Its sleek silhouette and two-tier system create a clean and tidy aesthetic, enhancing the overall organization layout of a coffee table.

The Iso Table was born out of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced many people to work from home and utilize their coffee tables as makeshift workspaces. Recognizing the lack of space and the need for improved organization, Vang incorporated the accent table into the design to enhance the user experience. By eliminating the need to constantly shift a table tray, the Iso Table streamlines the functionality of a coffee table, making it more user-friendly.

For his innovative design, Meng Vang was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2022. This prestigious accolade recognizes the Iso Table's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements.
